New Service: Whois ID Protect

We are happy to announce the launch of a brand new service available to all our clients, named ID Protect.

The purpose of the new service is to protect your personal or business details, listed in your domain name's WHOIS contact section, from being harvested and abused by spammers and fraudsters.

Once the service is activated, your personal details (e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc.) will be replaced by the registrar's data, thus improving your privacy considerably.

All e-mails sent to the contact address will be filtered and legitimate e-mails forwarded to the actual address.

The ID Protect service can be ordered only for domain names registered with us (or domains transferred to us subsequently), and has its own expiration date that is not related to the expiration date of the domain name.

To activate ID Protect for your domain(s), follow the steps below:

1. Start the domain registration process from the Register / Transfer tab in the Domain Manager of the control panel.

2. At the WHOIS information page you have the option to activate ID Protect for the domain. When the ID Protect service is activated, a green-shield-icon will be displayed in the Domain Manager. A single click on the icon will allow you to enable or disable the service.

To activate ID Protect for an already registered domain, the easiest way is to get into the Domain Manager and click the Add link in the ID Protect column for the domain that you want to protect.

You may also use the Quick Controls option in the upper-left corner of the Control Panel. In the panel with the information for the domain that you have selected, you will find a WHOIS section with an Order ID Protect link.

The service can be enabled or disabled at any time using the Manage ID Protect link located in the Quick Controls panel of the domain names, or with a single click on the green shield for the selected domain name in the Domain Manager. We recommend that you disable the ID Protect service prior to a transfer of the domain to another registrar, in order to approve the transfer request that is usually sent via e-mail.

At the moment ID Protect cannot be enabled at signup. First sign up for an account, then log in to the control panel in order activate the service.

Please note, although the ID Protect service prevents your personal details from showing up in WHOIS searches, you are still responsible for keeping the data in the WHOIS record valid and up to date. Because the actual WHOIS details still are kept on file, you will of course retain full ownership over your domain(s) even though the service is activated.

* The service is currently not available for .US domains due to central registry legislations.
